The Septuagint Old Testament, often abbreviated as the LXX, is the earliest Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures, produced between the 3rd and 2nd centuries BCE, traditionally associated with Jewish scholars in Alexandria, Egypt. According to legend, seventy (or seventy-two) translators independently produced identical translations, underscoring its perceived divine authority.
