Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley and first published in 1818, is a groundbreaking Gothic novel that tells the story of Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist who creates a sentient creature through an unorthodox scientific experiment. Horrified by his creation, Victor abandons the creature, who, rejected and misunderstood by society, becomes increasingly vengeful. The novel explores deep themes such as the dangers of unchecked ambition, the responsibilities of creators toward their creations, and the isolation caused by societal rejection. Often mistakenly referred to as "Frankenstein," the creature remains one of literature’s most iconic figures, and Shelley's work is considered one of the earliest and most influential science fiction novels ever written.
