The Story

5B, 1612

Notes

The 1611 King James Bible, also known as the Authorized Version, stands as one of the most influential English translations of the Bible. Commissioned by King James I of England, it was a monumental work of scholarship that aimed to provide a standardized and authoritative translation of the Christian scriptures. Completed by a team of scholars and theologians, it incorporated previous translations while also drawing on original Greek and Hebrew texts. Its language, marked by its majestic prose and poetic cadence, has had a profound impact on English literature and language, shaping the cultural and religious landscape for centuries to come.
