Porter Rockwell, known as Orrin Porter Rockwell, was a colorful and legendary figure in the American West. Born in 1813, he was a close friend and bodyguard of Joseph Smith, the founder of the Latter Day Saint movement, and later served as a protector for Brigham Young.
