Set in 17th-century France during the reign of Louis XIII, the story follows the young Gascon nobleman d’Artagnan as he travels to Paris hoping to join the king’s elite Musketeers. There he befriends the famed trio Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, and together they become entangled in court intrigue, political conspiracies, and daring adventures involving Cardinal Richelieu and the mysterious Milady de Winter. Known for its spirited pacing, memorable characters, and themes of loyalty and honor, the novel popularized the enduring motto “All for one, and one for all.”
