Goldilocks and the Three Bears (often referred to as The Three Little Bears) is a classic fairy tale about a young girl who wanders into the home of a family of bears—Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear—and samples their porridge, chairs, and beds, discovering that some things are “too much,” some “too little,” and one “just right.” The story is best known today with Goldilocks as the central character, but its history dates back to the 19th century in England, where early versions featured an impolite old woman instead of a child. Over time, the character was transformed into a young girl to soften the tale and make it more suitable for children. The story has endured because of its simple structure, repetition, and moral lessons about respect, boundaries, and consequences, making it a foundational work in children’s literature and storytelling tradition.
