The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a classic children’s story written by L. Frank Baum and first published in 1900. It tells the story of a young girl named Dorothy Gale, who lives on a farm in Kansas with her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry.
One day, a powerful cyclone carries Dorothy and her dog Toto to the magical land of Oz. There, she learns that the only way to return home is to seek help from the mysterious Wizard who lives in the Emerald City. Along the way, she befriends three memorable companions: the Scarecrow, who wants a brain; the Tin Woodman, who longs for a heart; and the Cowardly Lion, who desires bravery.
Together, they face challenges—especially from the Wicked Witch of the West—before finally meeting the Wizard, who turns out not to be as powerful as he seems. In the end, Dorothy discovers that she had the ability to return home all along, learning that “there’s no place like home.”
